<image:title>Photo Journal - "Six Days in Havana"</image:title>
<image:caption>The hands on the clock move slower in Havana. While the rest of the world developed over the last several decades, Cuba has remained, as the old cliché goes, a land frozen in time. Hauntingly beautiful in many ways, the ghosts of the past whisper at every corner with each crumbling building façade and rusted vintage car. Narrow streets are paved with cobblestone, and women hang their laundry from balconies. Sounds from a not-so-distant golden-age play on a radio while cigar smoke billows over a table where a group of men play dominos. Havana is as visually striking as you could ever imagine. Although Cuba has advanced significantly since the days of the Cold War, to many who live there, it hasn’t changed enough. For tourists, [extremely limited] access to basic amenities comes as an inconvenience; for Cuba’s citizens, that limited access is their daily reality. It is a reminder of a suppressed life in which even thinking differently is considered a punishable crime. If you have done any traveling outside of the developed world, you quickly come to the realization of just how spoiled we are as Americans. Here, the trivialities of social media are a real concern to a generation of self-aggrandizing artists. In Cuba, the people struggle to escape the stranglehold that old politics has on their potential as a whole. Decades of heavy-handed government and broken promises have crippled the island nation with a severe lack of opportunity. While recent reforms have loosened regulations on entrepreneurship, a majority of Cuba's citizens still depend on meager wages from state-ran businesses. Rations for basic food items serve as a drop in a bucket for a people anxious to create a more prosperous future for themselves. Yet, the people still thrive. Their hustle is charismatic and hospitable – a testament to the Latino culture. From day one, we were welcomed with open arms. Ernesto, a local taxi driver, gave us an impromptu tour through the Callejón de Hamel and a chance to get our cigar shopping done early. On day two, Raúl, a groundskeeper at the Necrópolis Cristóbal Colón, was kind enough to show us around some of the more well-known tombs. He explained their backstories with incredible detail – some beautiful, some just plain outlandish. Take the tomb of La Milagrosa, or “The Miraculous One,” as an example. The site is dedicated to Amelia Goyri de la Hoz who died in 1901 while giving birth. Her stillborn child, was placed by her feet when they were buried. Legend has it that when their bodies were disinterred, the child had moved from her feet and into her arms. She is considered a saint by many. For anyone visiting Havana, its “City of the Dead” is not to be missed, and a site that one could spend all day exploring. The people, like the city itself, have been battered by time. And still, their beauty and their will to overcome is undeniable. Our time with Alberto, a trainer at the Gimnasio de Boxeo Rafael Trejo, and his young students was a highlight of our week-long stay. The children trained with a toughness that only develops from being raised around harsh conditions. However, when posing for portraits, their eyes still exuded an innocence that quickly reminded me that they were not yet men. “Some of the world’s best boxers are Cuban” was something we heard multiple times in Havana. Fitting for a country whose fight for freedom is long from over.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I got together with Aja and Samir, collectively known as The Reminders, back in 2016 for this shoot. We started in Five Points by the old Rossonian Hotel, and went from there. If you're not familiar with the Rossonian and its history, I suggest you brush up on it. Naturally, as husband and wife, these two have great chemistry together. We were also blessed with some great lighting that day, so we were able to capture some gems. Here's some of my favorites... can't wait to shoot with them again.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Back in 2005, I spent 180 days at LSA Anaconda in Balad, Iraq. As part of the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing, our main duties were to escort LNs and TCNs (local nationals and third-country nationals) on and off base. It was a shit job... daily sandstorms and 130 degree days. I was going through some old boxes recently, and came across a couple of Sony "memory sticks" with these images stored on them. These were all shot with a Sony DSC-P71. Shit was only 3.2 megapixels (lmao). I will be updating this section with more photos from my tour in Iraq as I find them. All photos are shot by me unless otherwise noted.</image:caption>

<image:caption>It had been well over 20 years since I was last in NYC. Although 72 hours isn’t nearly long enough to be there, the homies and I arrived with an ambitious agenda, so we had to make the most of our time and cover a ton of ground, while taking in the iconic views, and engaging with the locals whenever we had an opportunity. Being the birthplace of Hip-Hop, the Bronx was somewhat of a pilgrimage for me. Although we were only there for a short time, it was important to me to visit that neighborhood. Some New Yorkers go their whole life without visiting the cultural gem that is the Bronx. Hitting Queens and Flushing Meadows Corona Park on a Saturday to be around that borough’s large Colombian community was also a major highlight for me. I have to give a very special thank you to the homies Rob (@_robertpatrick) and Lou (@yourboylou) for the incredible hospitality out there. The whole squad was appreciative. I hope you enjoy what I was able to document, including the views from a crazy heli ride high above the city. Aight peace.</image:caption>

Sad *Trump voice* Anyway, with so little time available, I tried to make the most of it. I took my girl with me and we covered a ton of ground. As always, here’s some of the faces and views I caught through my lens. <image:caption>It’s been two weeks since the passing of Kobe Bryant, and it’s still hard for me to put into words the scope of the tragedy. I traveled to LA this past week to celebrate my birthday — the whole trip was planned months in advance, but then Kobe happened. And Gigi. And the 7 others. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions watching the news reports of Kobe’s death, watching the celebrations of Kobe’s life, and watching the highlights of Kobe’s career that were part of my own life for 20+ years. Seeing all of the murals around LA was healing. And although the reality of Kobe being gone finally settled in, meeting a fraction of some of the people he inspired and influenced put everything into perspective. His spirit and legacy lives on in these people, these families... they will tell the stories to future generations because that’s how legacy works. Thank you, Kobe, for all of the memories. Thank you and Vanessa for giving Gigi to us, even if only for a short time. Her life will undoubtedly serve to inspire a generation of young girls looking to create legends of their own. Rest in peace to everyone who lost their lives just two weeks ago, I hope your stories will continue to be told. Thank you to all of the artists in LA and beyond working to heal the hearts and souls of those affected by this tragedy. Thank you to everyone I met for trusting me with these portraits. Travel well, Mamba. Art by Sloe, Jonas Never, Jules Muck, Mr. Brainwash, JC Ro, Vela, and Chris Chanyang Shim.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Angelica and I have birthdays within five days of each other in February, so we like to celebrate by going on a trip together every year around that time. This year, I picked NYC. It was Angelica’s first time out there, so I wanted to make sure she got the full experience… everything from downtown, midtown, uptown, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and a few spots in between. This trip was full of legendary moments. Angelica is huge fan Bob James, and has never seen him perform live. On our first night in the city, the legend himself just happened to be performing at the world-famous Blue Note, and I surprised her with some tickets. For those who are up on Bob James, then you know he’s one of the most sampled artists in hip-hop. Everyone from Slick Rick, Nas, Common, Jeru, Wu-Tang, Ghostface, Freddie Gibbs, Missy Elliot, and more have sampled him. She shed a couple tears watching him perform, and I’m not gonna lie, I may have shed a tear listening to Bob play “Angela,” or as you may know it, the theme song from the show “Taxi.” That nostalgia hit my soul, man. Talib Kweli was an amazing host, and Slick Rick the Ruler made a guest appearance. DJ Premier of Gangstarr even showed up… NYC is wild. I treated us to a Lakers-Nets game, a Rome Streetz concert, and a comedy show with Cipha Sounds and Wil Sylvince. We ended up getting our flights back to Denver canceled as a blizzard moved in the night before we were supposed to leave. It ended up being a blessing in disguise, as the minds behind SidetalkNYC hosted a snowball fight in Washington Square Park… Spider-Cuz even showed up with the Henny. It was complete chaos, and a perfect way to end the trip. Anyway, I’m rambling, peep the photos below. Peace.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Si nada nos salva de la muerte, que al menos el amor nos salve de la vida.” Words can’t begin to express how meaningful and cathartic this trip was for us. This year has been one of devastating loss in our family and our community. To be able to honor and remember our dearly departed in such a beautiful environment will be something we will never forget. The people of Oaxaca’s attention to every detail made us feel warm and welcome. From start to end, we felt the magic of the city. We can’t wait to experience it again.</image:caption>

<image:caption>For so many weeks leading up to the release of "God Bless The Block" I felt like a fraud. That imposter syndrome is something I battle before the launch of any project I'm involved with. But with "God Bless The Block" being a collection of my work spanning 10 years, it felt like a decade's worth of self-doubt was weighing me down. Would people get it? Would the community embrace the concept? Gentrification has had a stranglehold on our beloved block for so long. Could the original neighborhood still shine through? How could I properly pay homage?</image:caption>

<image:caption>Solidarity runs deeps — from the barrios to the blocks — our struggles are connected, and so is our resistance. Whether under constant threat of I.C.E. raids or military bombardment, resilience is stitched into both flags The fight for our dignity, for our culture, and for our liberation is ongoing. Coming off the heels of last night’s catastrophic airstrikes on Palestine, and the inhumane detainment and deportation of Latin American immigrants within the U.S. (and notably, Jeanette Vizguerra, here in Denver), we hope this image challenges the viewer to recognize the parallels in state-sanctioned violence against both Mexico and Palestine. Both peoples share a common history of colonialism, displacement, and systemic oppression. It’s a struggle that transcends borders, touching every corner of the globe. By juxtaposing these two cultures, and adding the lowrider as a backdrop, we’re highlighting the intersection of cultural identity and political defiance, while also tying this moment to concepts of self-determination and reclamation of space, something I hope is a common theme in my work.</image:caption>

<image:caption>On September 5, 2017, President Donald Trump ordered an end to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA. The Obama-era program allows undocumented young adults to live, study, and work in the United States without fear of deportation. In response, people across the country gathered to show their support for the DACA program and its recipients. With Trump's decision, some 700,000+ undocumented citizens were effectively left in limbo about their future status. Republicans and Democrats in Washington D.C. have yet to reach a deal as a March 2018 deadline to fix DACA approaches.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I was born and raised in California, so any time I’m able to get back to the west coast, it always feels like home, no matter where I touch down. It had been 20+ years since I had been back to San Diego, and I had never visited Chicano Park. The history of Barrio Logan and Chicano Park goes back to the early 1900s, when refugees were trying to escape the violence of the Mexican Revolution. Many of them settled in Barrio Logan, then-called Logan Heights. During World War II, beachfront access was denied to its residents to accommodate war efforts. In the following years, Barrio Logan was rezoned as a mixed residential and industrial area, further cementing the growing feelings of resentment from the neighborhood’s largely Mexican-American population. The community was effectively split in two in 1963 when the city built a freeway through the middle of Barrio Logan, which also led to the displacement of several thousand residents. The rise of the Civil Rights Movement and the Chicano Movement led to residents ultimately demanding a public park space. In 1970, Chicano Park was born. To this day, Barrio Logan embodies the spirit the struggle, or “la lucha.” All across the country, different neighborhoods and their histories are being erased by gentrification and greedy developers. However, in San Diego’s Barrio Logan, we are seeing the blueprint on how to fight back. It’s inspiring to see Latino-owned and ran shops, restaurants and galleries scattered throughout Barrio Logan. As someone who grew up and was influenced heavily by Chicano culture, Chicano Park Day felt like a pilgrimage. This year was the 48th anniversary, and from what I understand, it just keeps getting larger with each passing year. God willing, I’m definitely making a return trip to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Below are some of the ranflas and gente that I was able to capture during our short trip. Aight peace.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Elijah McClain was murdered by the Aurora Police Department back in August 2019. Elijah was choked by officers and then drugged with ketamine by EMT — he had a heart attack that night and died a few days later. Aurora’s district attorney refused to charge any of the officers who were involved. Photos later surfaced of three different Aurora PD officers mocking the chokehold used on Elijah (those officers have since been terminated). The Governor of Colorado has since reopened the investigation. On June 27, 2020, a day of peaceful protests followed by a violin vigil (in memory of the young man who played the violin for animals at a local shelter) was met with violence and pepper spray from the Aurora PD. To this day, neither of the officers or EMT have been charged or arrested in connection with Elijah’s murder. <image:caption>I woke up to the news that the legendary DJ Spinbad had passed away. I met Spinbad back in July 2017 when DJ Low Key had brought him out to spin Goodness alongside DJ Revolution and Sounds Supreme. In an industry where you meet a ton of assholes and prima donnas, Spinbad was legit one of the nicest, most down to earth DJs I had the pleasure of shooting during my many years documenting Low Key’s Solution and Goodness parties. And even though Spinbad is/was a legend in his own right, he had no problem showing love. I remember him bigging me up on my photos, and he showed love to all the DJs who spun alongside him that day. Upon hearing the news of Spinbad’s passing this morning, I immediately started going through my archives to find the photos from this day. A couple things stood out to me… 1.) I miss shooting these parties. These photos serve as a time capsule and remind me of the friends I made and the moments we can never get back. Just look at all these smiles. Hopefully, we can get back to a place where we can enjoy each other’s company like this. And 2.) 2020 has taken so much from us. It’s a year that has tested us in every way possible. We need to appreciate each other now because no one is promised tomorrow. The petty beefs that often come between us are inevitable, but it’s those who choose to overcome their pride who can move forward without regrets. Rest in Power DJ Spinbad. Rest in Power Sounds Supreme. Rest in Power Stetson. Rest in Power Joe.</image:caption>

Nothing will ever bring back the countless Black and Brown lives that have been taken due to state-sanctioned murders. The fight for equality will continue until the we lose the final breath in our lungs.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Thank you to our beautiful community for showing up to The Banshee House last Friday to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop. It was truly a night we’ll never forget. We executed the vision, but it wouldn’t have been as memorable if it wasn’t for each and every one of you. The response has been humbling on so many levels — from people saying how they hadn’t seen each other in so many years, to folks letting us know how they’re still on a high from the party even three days later. We love the art and respect the culture, but from the beginning, Theyshootn has always been about bringing people together. Plain and simple. Thank you to DJ Vandelay, KDJ Above, and DJ Lazy Eyez for taking us on a journey through every generation of hip-hop and keeping the party live all night long. Thank you to all of our photographers and artists for their amazing eyes and talent. Thank you to everyone who had a part behind the scenes. “Hip-Hop ‘til Infinity” was a team effort in every way, and we literally couldn’t have done any of it without your contributions — no matter how big or small. Thank you to the Banshee House staff for being so accommodating to our every need. Thank you to all of our partners: Good Chemistry, Banshee House, Aquila Cellars, Topo Chico, Empire Art Supply, Shisha Leafa, and Cerveceria Colorado. Thank you, thank you, thank you. A million times over. Until we all meet again. All photos were captured by the illustrious Julian Donaldson.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Councilwoman Jamie Torres Partners with Photographer Armando Geneyro to bring District 3 Virtual Denver, CO -- Councilwoman Jamie Torres has partnered with Photographer, Armando Geneyro, to provide a series of virtual background images featuring District 3 landmarks, views, and community. “District 3 is full of scenic, artistic, memorable, and nostalgic spots. As we spend more time on our computers in meetings, we wanted to give you a chance to showcase your neighborhood pride with some special virtual backgrounds! They may be places that give us comfort, fresh air, food, or spots where we connect with our neighbors and friends. While we adjust to a new normal, let’s share some of our favorite views with others,” said Councilwoman Torres. “Our communication has shifted extensively to virtual calls and online meeting platforms and we cannot lose our connection to our neighbors and neighborhoods. Distance and isolation will have devastating effects on our social and mental health. This public health crisis has not just affected our connectivity, it will also be economically devastating. It is my commitment to continue my fight for the health of my community in the Denver City Council and Armando’s images give me daily reminders of the beauty, pride, and diversity of this District and all of its residents.” Armando's work has showcased Denver’s communities in their beautiful diversity from Lowrider culture, to Aztec dance, to Denver landmarks and cultural celebrations. Armando is able to share views of community niches and intimate life that most of us don’t get to see. He set off over the course of a week to capture memorable spots throughout District 3 neighborhoods of La Alma/Lincoln Park, Sun Valley, West Colfax, Villa Park, Barnum, Barnum West, Westwood, and Mar Lee for this project.” To download the full resolution backgrounds, click here.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I had the honor of working with Denver Human Resources to create some portraits that celebrated their Unsung Heroes of 2021. These nine people are the embodiment of leadership, community impact, innovation and empowerment. Their work spans a wide spectrum of services: providing resources to survivors of domestic violence; building safe outdoor spaces for folks experiencing homelessness; helping families overcome barriers that keep them from attending school regularly; creating job opportunities for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities; running food co-ops and maintaining urban gardens for community members living in food deserts; creating safe zones and leadership programs for at-risk youth; empowering fathers to step into their greatness; providing aid and services to immigrant and refugee families; translating state-required materials for populations that are over-represented in the criminal justice system; and motivating others to become leaders. Respect to these community heroes (posted in the order they were photographed): Cuica Montoya (Colorado Village Collaborative).</image:caption>

<image:caption>“As I was thinking about a title for Brick & Soul, and its connection to the Building Denver exhibit, I wanted to tie it in with the term brick and mortar. The way people interact with physical locations has a lot to do with our soul. Many of these places are where people live and die, and where they celebrate and mourn. Families are raised in these neighborhoods, passing traditions down to the generations that will come long after they’re gone. Bricks harken to the past, and embody a time that so many folks in Denver are fighting to keep from losing. So much of my Denver photography shows how people interact with the city, and how they bring life to lifeless buildings. The streets serve as the background to so many of my subjects because that’s where I meet many of them. The streets are where they cruise and where they fight for justice and equality, sometimes both at the same time. This exhibit is an ode to the people who have built this city with brick and soul.” -Armando Geneyro “Brick & Soul” ran from July 31, 2021-August 30, 2022 at the History Colorado Center.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Exhibits - "When Heaven Scrapes the Pavement"</image:title>
<image:caption>Introducing "When Heaven Scrapes the Pavement" -- my photo contribution to the "Desert Rider: Dreaming in Motion" exhibit opening this Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Denver Art Museum. It's an honor to have this photo placed alongside the work of legendary Denver artists like Carlos Frésquez and Daniel Salazar. I have been documenting the lowrider community in Denver close to a decade now. In that time, I have been fortunate to forge relationships that will last a lifetime, while also accumulating a large collection of photos. A few of my images were considered for this exhibit before we ultimately decided on this one. While many of my photos are untitled, I knew I needed one for this photo that told a story. I wanted to bridge the gap between lowrider culture and spirituality — not that there is a huge space between those two to begin with. Being the son of two South American immigrants, I grew up in the Catholic Church, and while I ultimately abandoned all religious ideologies, I remained open to the ethereal aspects of life and to those things that keep us spiritually connected. The lowrider community, to me, is one of those elements. Parking lots become churches on the weekends; the stories told on stained glass windows unfold similarly on candy paint and chrome; we take communion from the taquero; we say "peace be with you" through daps and hugs; we confess our sins from the night before over a cold Modelo; we two-step to hymns by Zapp & Roger. It's at the weekend kick-back or at the show and shine when heaven scrapes the pavement. Go peep this image and much more at the Denver Art Museum, open this Sunday, July 9 through September 24. The 1948 Chevy Fleetline (left) is owned by Joe O’Connell from Ranflitas CC, and the 1962 Chevy Impala SS (right) is owned by Brian Casias from Citywide CC. <image:caption>In 1965, a flood devastated the Auraria neighborhood in Denver, which had a largely-Latino population at the time. Because of the flood damage, the City of Denver began looking into redeveloping the site, which led to the establishment of Metropolitan State College, and ultimately the clearing out of Denver’s oldest neighborhood to transform it into a modern urban campus. The federal government put up funds, which were matched by a bond approved by Denver voters, to buy the land and relocate Auraria’s residents. Many Aurarians tried resisting the displacement, however, they ultimately failed and were forced to move from the neighborhood they called home. Relocations were completed by 1972, and the new campus was completed in 1976. When you walk through the modern-day Auraria campus, you’ll see a few buildings still standing from the original neighborhood. In collaboration with History Colorado, the “I Am Auraria” Museum of Memory exhibit opened August 23, 2023 at the Auraria Campus Library. Through this exhibit, hundreds of families who were displaced from the original Auraria neighborhood told their stories on their terms. As a former graduate of Metro State, I was honored to be a small part of this project. I’m thankful to the families I was able to photograph for putting their trust in me for the short time we were able to spend together. Below are images (which were included in the exhibit) from one of the workshops where I was able to photograph several families from the original Auraria neighborhood, along with photos from the exhibit opening.</image:caption>

Curated by Estevan Oriol and Superchief Gallery, “Contagious Culture 5” is also available for purchase as a book here. <image:caption>It was an honor to be able to participate in this year’s Photoville. Being able to see my images of 27th and Larimer in New York under the Brooklyn Bridge with some of my favorite people alongside me was good for my soul. I pressed the shutter, but these images are and will always be a collaboration between me and my people on the block. And I’m still at a loss for words when I think about these photos sharing space with those of icons like Jamel Shabazz, Joseph Rodriguez, and so many more talented storytellers. Lastly, I gotta show love to Nicole Motta for including me and “God Bless The Block” in Fresh Mercado’s “A Proclamation of Presence”. Most people don’t know this, but Nicole gave me the nudge to complete “God Bless The Block” back in 2023. It’s special when you get to collaborate with someone who respects your work and treats it with dignity. I know how time intensive it can be to do this kind of work, making sure everyone shines equally. Her attention to detail was inspiring. I’m thankful for her creating these spaces for our stories to be told.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Palestinians have never been more in the public eye than today, yet still exist in a space of invisibility. Popular representations of the Palestinian experience fail to capture the full depth of their humanity, and when allowed to exist in the public space, they are narrowed down to caricatures: they are either victim or threat, and nothing else. UNSEEN challenges viewers to interrogate these flattened narratives; to start to see Palestinians as complete individuals with a deep connection to their land, ancestors, and the traditions they carry. Our Palestinian neighbors continue to show up in mundane daily tasks while carrying the constant ache of grief, of loved ones in danger, of a homeland under siege. Their entire being is fractured between these two diametrically opposite realities where home and rubble have become one. Featuring photographs of Colorado Palestinian families taken by local artists, UNSEEN invites viewers on a journey of what it means to be Palestinian today. Our Palestinian neighbors are people we pass in the grocery store, at the gym, and at work or school. People who are silently carrying the weight of unimaginable loss: of family, of homes, of history. Grief, war, and displacement are not merely unseen “over there.” They are present here, woven into the fabric of our own communities. -Sumud Collective</image:caption>

<image:caption>I don’t shoot a ton of concerts, but it isn’t everyday you get an opportunity to cover a lineup that includes your favorite emcee. It’s no secret how influential Nas and his music have been to my life. Huge shouts to Big Samir, Aja Black and Lazy Eyez of The Reminders for making this happen. Although Pusha T had to cancel, the rest of the legendary line-up more than made up for it. The Reminders tore it down in front of the home crowd, while Royce da 5’9” and Brother Ali kept the energy up for Black Star and Nas as they ran through their catalog of classics. Red Rocks is truly a magical venue. Enjoy the flicks. Aight peace.</image:caption>

<image:caption>From 40-16 Vernon Blvd., to a sold out show at The Garden. From the largest housing projects in North America, to the “World’s Most Famous Arena.” In a venue that has witnessed its fair share of historic performances, Nas put Queens on his back, and tore it down from beginning to end. It was a night where hip-hop royalty was honored, and we were just fortunate to be in attendance. But before the night even started, we needed to walk the same streets where Nas once called home. We needed to pay homage to the neighborhood that created the legend. We walked the cracked concrete; we touched the bricks; we sat in the stairwell; we breathed in the crisp February air off the project rooftop. The neighborhood was quiet that morning, a sure contrast to its infamous reputation. NYC should be a mandatory pilgrimage for any hip-hop head. Each borough is a pillar for the genre, where significant contributions and sacrifices have been made for its posterity. Once we fully paid our respects, we took the train back to the city ready for something historic. Nas did not disappoint. New York City did not disappoint. I got hype when DJ Green Lantern kicked off the night, running through the classics. I was thankful for Hit-Boy’s appearance mid-show, knowing he helped rejuvenate Nas in this latter part of his career. When Mary J. Blige graced the stage, I knew anything was possible that night. However, when the beat dropped for “Life’s A Bitch,” I damn near cried knowing AZ was about to spit what’s without question a top-five verse in hip-hop history. I rapped every fucking word. Then Slick Rick appeared, and my heart was full. The rest of the night I’ll keep for myself as a treasure in my memories that I’m sure I’ll go back to often. Thank you, hip-hop… YOU KNOW QUEENS IN THE HOUSE.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Have the nights began to you all on the boulevard?” It was a night full of soul at The Bluebird Theater for the Denver stop of the “From Frisco With Love” tour. Ramirez, Rocci and the Flawless Immaculates ran through their silky smoothed out hits from The Playa$ Manual 1 and 2. Jason Joshua delivered incredible high energy with his Miami souldies sound, and Soulzay repped Texas hard with a great set. I’ve been to some dope shows this year, but surprisingly this might be my favorite one so far. Shit was just smooth jams and good vibes.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“So pick me up, drive around, tellin’ everybody that we’re back in town…” It’s always love when Durand Jones & The Indications come to Denver. It was my fourth time seeing them live in the Mile High, and as their iconic catalog expands, so does the mastery of their live show deepen. The crowd at the Gothic was locked in from their opening song “Circles” all the way to their closer “Sea Gets Hotter”. They are true masters of their craft, and I can’t wait to see them tear down even bigger stages in the future. Shouts to The Psycodelics out of South Carolina, as well. Their live show was amazing and completely dialed in. They made me a fan with their performance of “Be Thankful for What You Got”. I’m excited for the future of this young band. Aight, peace.</image:caption>
